An EV-focused passenger-car OEM identified parasitic loss on the accessory drive as a 1.2 % range hit on their entry-level EV platform. The stock rubber trapezoidal belt had higher bending hysteresis than necessary for the modest loads it carried.
We worked with their drivetrain team to spec a reinforced AT-profile PU belt with low-hysteresis cord, and to redesign the accessory pulleys to match the new profile.
On the dyno, parasitic loss dropped from 92 W to 78 W at typical cruise. That 14 W saving translates to a 1.2 % range gain — enough to push the platform from a 280 km to a 283 km WLTP rating without changing the battery.
